We Love Warringah team's Brookvale Oval policy

We support the planned upgrade for Brookvale Oval. We believe Brookie Stadium should be a major multi-function outdoor entertainment venue for Rugby League as well as for a broad range of live entertainment, outdoor cinema, exhibitions, conferences and festivals.

Brookvale Stadium should be the star attraction of a vibrant entertainment precinct centred in downtown Brookvale!

Ideally, there should be three stands and seated accommodation for up to 25,000 people. The public expects no less for the only stadium north of the Harbour.

We want to see the hills on the Northern and Western sides retained as places where people can gather to enjoy their entertainment in the open air. They are a valuable asset for our community. (Not everyone wants to sit in a designated seat under cover).

We want to see a real plan for the whole of Brookvale. This suburb is supposed to be a major centre for the Sydney Metropolitan Area (Metropolitan Strategy 2007). It is always overlooked.

The Manly Daily of 5 October 2005 posed the question: Why not a plan for Brookie too? and since then, there has been a long silence. As Dick Persson (Warringah Administrator) said in October 2005: "I would like to put the former council planners in one room and ask, What the hell were you thinking?".

How can you plan for the whole of the Northern Beaches and forget about Brookvale and the biggest attraction in Warringah: Brookie Oval?

The new Brookvale Stadium should be part of a growing centre catering for residents, commerce, shopping, educational establishments and sporting and live entertainment. A suburb that has a character all its own.

What's needed is a co-ordinated plan. A plan that also tackles the problems of parking and public transport.

We Love Warringah promises to work with the Sea Eagles to achieve a better Brookvale, a suburb that's a destination - not just a place to drive through on your way to somewhere else!!

The We Love Warringah team boasts fresh faces, new ideas and is an independent group of residents who love their footy and want to see the Sea Eagles at Brookie forever.

A vote for us is a vote for the future of Rugby League on the Northern Beaches!
